Deniz Üngör Köksal

Deniz Üngör Köksal completed her master’s degree at Ege University, Faculty of Textile Engineering, Textile Chemistry department in 2002. She worked as a research assistant at Ege University Textile Research and Application Center until the end of 2001 while she was studying.

She started working as Laboratory Manager at Karstadt Quelle Liaison Office in 2002 and was responsible for quality control and labeling of fabrics before they were shipped to Germany.

In the beginning of 2005, she started working as Six Sigma Coordinator and Quality Control Leader in Ekoten Textile, subsidiary of Sun Group. She implemented Six Sigma Methodology within the organization and led several Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S Projects. She received the Master Black Belt certificate in 2008 and coached the organization with Six Sigma methodologies and projects. She was also responsible for organizing training and internal audits at the company.

She established Management Systems, including ISO9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 50001 (Energy), ISO 14064 (Greenhouse Gas Verification-Scope 1-2-3). Implementing energy management systems at Ekoten Textile not only provided incentives to the organization but also helped them become the 6th textile company in the world approved by BSI. Her report on Greenhouse Gas Calculations also brought another award Textile from CDP Turkey to Ekoten.

She established the Automotive Quality Management System (ISO/TS 16949) at Ames Textile, subsidiary of Sun Group. She managed the quality standards 2015 version transition process. She helped clients and independent audit companies perform their audits.

In 2012, she started to work at Sun Group as the Human Resources Manager responsible for Sun Tekstil, Ekoten Tekstil, Jimmy Key Tekstil, Ames Tekstil, TDU Tekstil. Her main responsibility was to make sure job descriptions, competency analysis, training requirement analysis, employee satisfaction analysis, and career management processes are aligned with Group Companies main objectives which are identified during the strategic planning process.

In 2017, she started to work as a Corporate Development and Sustainability Manager at Sun Group. She contributed to the creation and development of sustainability strategies and targets in line with the company’s strategic goals.

After working 23 years in the textile industry, in 2018, she decided to pursue her career as a consultant. She currently provides consulting and training services on management systems, Lean Six Sigma, sustainability, and human resources management. Meanwhile, she works voluntarily for Kalder quality association’s EFQM Excellence model, Chamber of Mechanical Engineers Kaizen Projects, and Turkish Family Business Association-Taider’s North Star Sustainability Evaluation.
