DFSS (Design for Six Sigma)
Excellence in design of new products or new processes is often more important than the competency of problem solving in existing processes. Fundamental mission of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) is to ensure 6 sigma level of performance at product/process development phase, by using the power and knowledge obtained through DMAIC cycles.
The methodology used in DFFS is DMEDI (Define, Measure, Explore, Develop, Implement) which is a kind of adopted version of DMAIC methodology, for new products or processes. When applying DMEDI methodology, knowledge of the experienced Six Sigma Black Belts must go beyond DMAIC knowledge, by learning the new tools such as:
- New product/process quality planning
- Concurrent Engineering
- QFD (Quality Function Deployment)
- PUGH Matrix
- FAST (Functional Analysis System Technique)
- TRIZ (The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving)
- Simulation Techniques
- Reliability analysis
