With the “Six Sigma” methodology which we started to implement in 2007 in order to improve customer satisfaction, increase competitiveness and improve business results, we were able to get to know Matris and its trainer, Mr. Kemal Önen. The system adopted and implemented by the leading organizations of the world and our country, we received Six Sigma trainings from Matris cin our company, which is one of the first and successful practitioners in the machinery carpet industry in Turkey.

Implementing the Six Sigma methodology in our integrated factory in Kayseri / Develi, our organization raised 14 Black Belts in the first wave. We also started the second wave Black Belt training in 2008. As a result of this training process, 9 more of our colleagues were entitled to become a Black Belt. With the second group, our Black Belt number reached to 23. In addition to spreading the Six Sigma methodology company wide, 53 of our staff working at the level of first-tier managers also took their Yellow Belt Trainings from Matris.

We ensured that all our white collar employees attend the ‘Six Sigma” basic training and projects’ Kick-Off meetings. Thus, at Saray Halı, we ensured that this application spread to all functions, from production processes to marketing, sales and human resources. About 42 projects were completed within the first waves of deployment. From the projects carried out, financial gain targets were achieved. We have exceeded our annual revenue target of $50,000 per project.

With 23 successful projects, we have benefited over $2 million. In addition to the success of the Six Sigma projects, our employees embraced the culture of measurement of process and business performance, and the importance of the added value. Competence of Matris and its training staff and superior professional approach have been important in this regard.

“In today’s conditions, especially in the textile industry, increasing its competitive advantage, developing and becoming a World brand depend on its ability to substantially reduce its costs. Companies have to lower their costs because they are unable to increase product prices as they wish in free market conditions. This can only be achieved by achieving operational excellence thanks to the qualified workforce it has.

Traditional improvement methods have been used by many companies to date, and indeed serious success has been achieved in efficiency, profitability, process improvement. After that, however, systems and methodologies were needed to make a difference. At this point, we started implementing Six Sigma, a system that proved its success, in early 2009.

In 2 years, we provided Black Belt training to 27 employees and Yellow Belt training to 70 employees. Thus, we have spread the culture of “talking by data not by feelings” and logic of continuous improvement within the company. Projects completed in this period showed that we were not mistaken. With this methodology, we achieved gains such as financial returns that cannot be neglected at all in today’s conditions, as well as the increased employee in management, employee motivation, and increased belief that “there are no problems that cannot be solved”.

Among the trainings we have received so far, Six Sigma trainings have been the most feasible and can be converted into benefits. Therefore, we will continue to implement the 6 Sigma system with determination. “
